MID CENTURY MODERN FRONT YARD & EXTERIOR DESIGN
After some unfortunate remodels and a garden that didn't relate to the house, this Mid Century exterior and garden needed to be revitalized - everything from paint to paths, to plants - in order to take it back to its original intention. The result is a new exterior that is Modern in spirit; asymmetrical paths, boulders, and colorful, sculptural plants offset the long, clean lines of the house. The color palette of the house was adjusted and simplified in conjunction with the plant palette - a mixture of verdant greens and chartreuse, silvers, and mauve. Drought tolerance was a top priority, but we did not want the garden to feel desert-like. The deep, dry stream bed catches rainwater from the roof; the plants - while lush in their abundance - require very little water.
